Kerry is well-connected by transport links, with access via Farranfore Airport and train station, and central train stations in Killarney and Tralee. Local Link bus services and regional buses also operate, as well as taxis; ‘Uber’, and ‘Free Now,’ Car hire is available from Kerry Airport, Farranfore.

✈️ By Plane

Kerry Airport offers direct flights to and from London (Luton and Stanstead), twice daily flights to Dublin, and connections to other European destinations. The Airport has an open cafe bar (closes 4pm on Sundays) and a pub in Departures with snacks.

🚆From the Airport: It’s a 15 minute walk on a footpath to Farranfore Train station which will bring you directly to Tralee/Killarney. A taxi rank operates outside of the airport. There are also several Local Link services (of which one does go to Currow :the ceremony) and other bus services from the Airport to other towns and villages. The Local Link drivers are generally sound and will usually go slightly off-route for you if the bus is quiet.

🚗 Car Hire at Kerry Airport: Enterprise is available directly at Kerry Airport, offering a convenient option for exploring the county at your own pace. Advance booking is recommended during peak seasons.

🚂 By Train

Regular train services to Kerry operate multiple times daily from Dublin Heuston, Cork Kent, and via Mallow.

🛤️ From Dublin Heuston:

  • Depending on the departure time, your journey may be direct or require a transfer.

  • If indirect, the train will be labeled ‘Cork’not ‘Kerry’ — on the departure board.

  • In this case, you must transfer at Mallow Station to the connecting train bound for Kerry (Tralee, or Killarney - depending on what days and where you’re staying).

  • Don’t worry — the onboard announcer will clearly state this transfer for all passengers.
